Client Expectations
What you can expect from Anchored Starting Point Therapy
Your first session, often called the intake session, is a chance for us to get to know each other and to lay the groundwork for our therapeutic journey together. Here’s a brief overview of what that session typically involves:

-
Getting to Know You: We’ll start with some introductions and a conversation about what brings you to therapy. We will ask you about your background, your current concerns, and any goals you might have. This helps us to understand your unique situation and how we can best support you.
-
Discussing Your History: We’ll go over some of your personal and medical history, including any previous experiences with therapy or mental health treatment. This information is important to help us tailor an approach to your needs.
-
Explaining the Process: We will explain how therapy works, what kinds of approaches we might use, and answer any questions you have about confidentiality, session structure, or anything else on your mind. It’s important that you feel comfortable and informed.
-
Setting Goals: Together, we’ll start to identify some initial goals for therapy. These might evolve over time, but it’s helpful to have a starting point so we can track your progress.
Remember, the intake session is all about creating a safe and welcoming space for you to share and ask questions. Our goal is to make sure you feel heard and supported from the very first meeting.
